Brian A Padol, President
From 1958 until 1978, Brian A Padol,
President and founder of RPI, was a math teacher in New York City's public schools. He developed and implemented
one of the first microcomputer course taught in New York City. He retired from the Board of Education (at a ridiculously
young age) in 1978 to found CFI ... computer solutions. One of the oldest microcomputer consulting houses,
it has had several programs in national distribution, including database managers and professional tax preparation
programs. Its programs have been distributed by Commodore Business Machines, Geneva Technology, and Physicians'
Computer Network. It has also written custom programs for clients such as Squibb and Hoffman La Roche in the
health care field, involving remote data entry and collection.
CFI created a division called RECAP:
Publications to take advantage of the new field of desktop publishing. Its first product was a full-fledged,
nationally distributed monthly magazine called RECAP: PC. In addition to its own articles and reviews, the
magazine summarized each and every article and review in the top eight newsstand and trade publications in the PC
field. Then, in conjunction with On Location Education and its
president, Alan Simon, RPI started a second trade publication: CallBack: The Newsmagazine for Families with
Children in Show Business. This magazine became the basis for RPI's first book,
The
Young Performers Guide: How to Break Into Show Business (F&W).
Mr. Padol has authored several books, including Computerizing
Your Small Business Made Simple for Doubleday and The A to Z Crossword Puzzle Solver
(Avon). His computer-oriented reviews and articles have appeared in newspapers and magazines.
